Shay Alster AIA
Shay Alster, AIA is a partner at GF55 Partners and has been with the firm since 1998. Shay has been instrumental in the firm’s growth and leads project teams from concept design through construction completion. He has been Partner in-Charge for several large urban developments, including two adjacent city blocks in Manhattan consisting of six residential buildings and a church, totaling over 600,000 sq ft. Shay’s efforts have been repeatedly recognized with awards from the New York State Association For Affordable Housing (NYSAFAH) for Project of the Year in 2006 and 2009. His current work at GF55 in New York City includes award winning LEED Silver certified Chelsea Park, 23-story One Morningside Park, and a large scale project Harlem River Point for the New Housing Marketplace Plan (NHMP) and The Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD).
Prior to joining GF55, Shay worked with RKK&G / The Museum Group in NYC and at Kupiec & Koutsomitis Architects P.C., where he was working on art museums, libraries and on the redevelopment of 42nd Street – Time Square, NYC.
Shay holds a B. Arch degree from Pratt Institute, School of Architecture where he was awarded the Excellence in Design Award and the Pratt Circle Award for Outstanding Academic Achievements. He also holds a Certificate in Real Estate Investment and Finance from NYU. Earlier, Shay studied Design at the Center of Technology Education in Holon, Israel. He was a Captain in the Israeli Air Force and graduated from the Israeli Air Force Electronic Warfare Academy in 1988.
Shay Alster, AIA is a member of the Housing Committee AIA NY Chapter and NYSAFAH. He is a registered Architect in New York and Florida, and holds a certificate from the NCARB.
