– GF55 Partners, an architecture and interior design firm based in New York City, and Artimus Construction, a New York City based developer, are proud to announce SoHa 118, their latest mixed-use apartment building in Harlem, has been named “Project of the Year” by the New York State Association for Affordable Housing (NYSAFAH) for 2009. This is the second “Project of the Year” award GF55 Partners and Artimus have received from NYSAFAH. In 2007, they received “Project of the Year” for 444 Manhattan Avenue & Brownstone Lane.SoHa118, at 185,000 SF, offers both market rate and affordable housing units. It consists of 93 apartments of one, two, and three bedrooms, ranging from 730-2,250 SF. With spectacular views in all directions, the 14 story mixed-used building is one of the tallest in South Harlem.
SoHa 118 marks the completion of a Harlem block on Frederick Douglass Blvd. between 118th and 119th Streets by GF55 Partners. Artimus and GF55 Partners have worked together to successfully transform this formerly neglected district into a vibrant community, with large scale urban development of 595,500 GSF and 448 units on two adjacent blocks, containing five sites and seven residential buildings with a sixth site containing a newly renovated church. Since 2001, GF55 has designed 26 mixed income buildings including SoHa 118, Dafina, the Kalahari and 2280 FDB, worth over $600 million. GF55 has been one of the most prolific architects in Harlem and are experts in affordable housing in gentrifying areas in Harlem.
